SSB Service Selection Board Aim and Objective:

The SSB Service Selection Board works with the objective to recruit candidates in the Indian Armed Forces who are mentally and physically capable of handling such huge positions of responsibility. The process is based on the concept of ManasaVacha, and Karmana which means mind, speech, and actions which means the officer candidates must have their mind, speech, and action in alignment and agreement.

What After SSB Service Selection Board?

If you are selected in the Service Selection Board interview process and are curious about the process that follows, then you are at the right place. The candidates who get recommended by the SSB Service Selection Board are sent for medical examination. The medical fitness test takes about 4-5 days and the candidates have dispersed afterward. The candidates are tested as per the field they applied for. This is what SSB Service Selection Board medical examination looks like;

Day 1: Blood Test, Urine Test, Chest X-ray, Ultrasound.

Day-2: Ear, Nose & Tongue (ENT)

Day 3: Surgical Examination

Day-4: Eye & Dental

Day 5: General Medical (Height, Weight, Blood Pressure, Heartbeat) & Medical Conference

SSB Service Selection Board Medical Standards:

The candidates are required to be as per the prescribed SSB Service Selection Board medical standards in order to pass the recruitment process. The candidates should be in accordance with the following medical standards:

  • Free from wax (ears), DNS, Hydrocele/ Phimosis, Defective Color Vision, LASIK Surgery, Over/ Under Weight, Under Chest, Piles, Gynecomastia, Tonsillitis, Veri-Cocele, Aids
  • Able to read 6/6 in a distant vision chart
  • CP-III Color Vision Standard
  • 14 Dental Points with sound teeth.

SSB Service Selection Board Vision Standards:

The candidates while undergoing the Service Selection Board interview will be tested for vision standards. The candidates must fulfill the following vision requirements;

  • Uncorrected without glasses: 6/6, 6/9
  • Corrected with glass: 6/6 (only for hypermetropia)
  • Nil limits for myopia
  • Limits for hypermetropia: +2.00 D.

SSB Service Selection Board Terms of Disqualification:

The candidates are disqualified from the medical examination of the Service Selection Board interview on the basis of the following grounds:

  • Sweaty Palms
  • Flat Foot
  • Knock Knee
  • Kidney Stones
  • Pigeon Chest
  • Color Perception CP 2 and CP 3 (Flying Branch) CP 3 (CDS Entry)
  • Carrying Angle of Elbow

SSB Service Selection Board Reappeal:

The candidates who are declared medically unfit during the process of the SSB Service Selection Board medical examination are given an option to re-appeal. Candidates can apply for the Apply Medical Board (AMB) by depositing a fee of INR 40. It must be noted that this option is only valid for the candidates who are given temporary rejection during the Service Selection Board interview process. The SSB Service Selection Board Appeal Medical Board will be held at one of the following centers:

The candidates declared underweight or overweight during the SSB Service Selection Board medical examination can re-appeal at the AMB center after 42 days of the medical examination after gaining or losing the required amount of weight.
