The National Payments Corporation of India developed and introduced RuPay, global financial services and payment system, on March 26, 2012. The Reserve Bank of India’s objective of developing a national, open, and multilateral payments system was realised by its creation. The first time RuPay ON-THE-GO Designathon has been announced by RuPay with excitement. a problem that will inspire the participants to use their imaginations Put your creative mind to work, start sketching, and help RuPay pave the future for ON-THE-GO payments in India.

RuPay is excited to announce its first RuPay ON-THE-GO Designathon. A challenge that will stimulate the participants to put their creativity to work. Put on your thinking caps, hit the drawing board and pave the way for India to pay ON-THE-GO with RuPay.

Guidelines of RuPay ON-THE-GO Designathon 2022

  • Individual registration is required for interested participants.
  • The file must be in PPT format and not be larger than 10 MB. If you have many files, you can upload a zip file that combines them all into one, or a PDF.
  • Convention for Naming: (Full Name)_RuPay OTG
  • Participants are limited to submitting one design per form factor.
  • To develop the design, participants are free to utilize software, pens, pencils, coloured pencils, paint, etc.
  • The RuPay ON-THE-GO Jury will review all submitted designs and determine the shortlist premised on their judgement.
  • The verdict of the jury will stand as the final judgement.
  • The platforms for RuPay & NPCI LinkedIn and Twitter are used to announce the winners and special mentions.
  • For prize delivery, winners will be notified separately (within 1 month of announcement).

RuPay ON-THE-GO Designathon 2022: Stages and Timelines

Form Factor & Design Submission

For registered participants as a step, one must select a form factor. Example: Ring, Keychain or any new form which the participant finds suitable for the objective and as step two create a path-breaking design for that form factor. They will have to submit a PPT elaborating on why a particular form factor is appropriate for a payment instrument, how it will be convenient for the customer and the underlying inspiration behind the design created by the participant for that form factor.

Final Presentation

The top 10 shortlisted participants will be working further on their proposed design through inputs and technical guidance from RuPay representatives and further building upon their presentation and design. The participants will then present the form factor and Design to the final jury.

Eligibility Criteria: RuPay ON-THE-GO Designathon 2022 is open for college students across all campuses all over India

 

Competition Structure:

  • Form Factor & Design Submission:
    • Registered participants as a step must select a form factor. Example: Ring, Keychain or any new form which the participant finds suitable for the objective and as step two create a path-breaking design for that form factor.
    • The Guardrails for the design can be accessed from here.
    • Registered participants will have to submit a PPT.
    • The submission must elaborate on why a particular form factor is appropriate for a payment instrument, how it will be convenient for the customer and the underlying inspiration behind the design created by the participant for that form factor.
    • The last day to submit entries is 10th October 2022 at noon IST.
  • Final Presentation Round:
    • Top 10 shortlisted participants will be working further on their proposed design through inputs and technical guidance from RuPay representatives and further building upon their presentation and design.
    • Presentation will be required to be submitted by 27th October 2022 before noon.
    • The participant must then present the Form Factor and Design to the final evaluation jury.
    • The presentation can be supported by a demonstration of your Prototype that showcases the form factor and design and how it caters to the RuPay ON-THE-GO Proposition.
    • Participants will be assessed by a panel of industry experts on the parameters of creativity, customer convenience, usability, and scalability of the concept.
